Ashton Goodfield, CFA – Deutsche Asset and Wealth Management, Managing Director

Ashton co-leads the municipal bond department for Deutsche AWM and is a portfolio manager for nine mutual funds and one ETF.  The 15-member municipal group, located in Boston, manages $23B in assets, primarily institutional and mutual fund portfolios.

Ashton joined Deutsche Bank in 1986 as an employee of Scudder, Stevens and Clark, which was purchased by Deutsche Bank in 2002.  She began her portfolio management duties in 1990, and in 2000 became head of municipal bond trading.  She was named Co-Head of the Municipal Bond Department in October 2014.  In 2010, Ashton was invited to participate in Deutsche Bank’s ATLAS (Accomplished Top Leaders Advancement Strategy) program, a leadership development program designed to prepare female Managing Directors for influential positions at Deutsche Bank. She graduated from Duke University in 1985 with an A.B. in Economics, and was awarded the CFA designation in 1991.

Together with municipal team colleagues, Ashton co-authors the “Municipal Opinion,” a mini white paper released quarterly.  Over the years, she has been quoted in various press sources including the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, and Bloomberg.

Ashton is a member of the Municipal Securities Advisory Committee of the Investment Company Institute, a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society, and served as chair for the 2014 Municipal Bond Buyers Conference.  She volunteers at her church as a member of its Capital Campaign Committee.  From 1990 to 2000, she served on the Finance Advisory Board for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
