Beth Wolchock – Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., Head of Municipal Underwriting
Beth Wolchock is Head of the Municipal Underwriting at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. (“Oppenheimer”) and is based in the national investment firm’s Stamford , CT office. A consummate and dedicated professional, Beth is well known and regarded within her sector of the financial community. Over the course of her career, she has senior-managed billions of dollars in municipal bonds, introduced many issuers to the market, and developed new products for municipal bond investors.
Having “cut her teeth” at George B. Gibbons & Co, in 1977, she then joined Dean Witter where she rose to become the first women appointed to lead a national underwriting desk. She ultimately became a senior underwriter at Kidder Peabody which, during her tenure, was purchased by- and rebranded as- Paine Weber. She became the underwriter for Artemis Capital, a premier women-owned financial services firm which merged into Dain Rauscher.
With the birth of her daughter, Beth continued to work full time, albeit closer to home. Based Stamford, CT, she opened the branch and was the head underwriter of minority-owned firm Jackson Securities where she brought their new-issue volume from $20 billion in the first year to over $75 billion by year two.
Immediately prior to joining Oppenheimer, Beth created and ran the municipal bond department for Castle Oak Securities, a strategic partner of Cantor Fitzgerald. Having beaten breast cancer and recently installed her daughter in college, Beth continues to make contributions to Oppenheimer’s Municipal Underwriting Department and the broader “muni-bond community” many of whose members she has influenced and mentored.
Beth a BA in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is a FINRA registered General Securities Principal (Series 24), Municipal Securities Principal (Series 53), and General Securities Representative (Series 7).
